Your Dimension or Mine ? #6BestHop #fantasy #magic #metaphysical #romance

Hi Everyone :) I keep forgetting to sign up for bloghops. So I figured I'd try the Sundays' Six of the Best where authors post 6 paragraphs of their work.

This snippet is from the very beginning of Your Dimension or Mine?

~~~
“…and of course there is the effect on the economy…”
Sighing, Ari blinked her eyes and stared at the man seated directly across from her. He was still talking. And eating. From the moment they were seated at the private table for two in the neighborhood’s newest restaurant, Jay had been stuffing his face. Or talking. Sometimes he attempted multi-tasking and did them both at the same time. When that happened, Ari wanted to ask their waiter for a splatter guard but worried it would come across as rude.
“These damned politicians just don’t know anything,” he finished his newest rant, taking a big gulp of wine before letting out a belch.
If only Ma Nature would choose this moment to send a tsunami our way, she thought. Of course, the possibility of that happening was less than zero. The closest they got were flash floods in August. It was January.
“Have you noticed the price of gas?” Jay asked, munching on a breadstick as the waiter removed his salad plate and replaced it with a large bowl of soup. Without waiting for her to acknowledge his question, he launched into a diatribe about fixing prices and the state of pigs…or at least that was what she thought he said.
Letting her mind drift, Ari tried to remember why she accepted this date in the first place. Oh, that’s right—her sister Jane set it up without asking. Well, it wasn’t the first time. Ever since she entered college, Jane had taken it upon herself to introduce her little sister to men just like her husband Tony.
~~~

Your Dimension or Mine?

When Ari Reynolds signed up for an online dating service, she only did it to get her sister off her back about her dateless life. She never expected to be contacted by men from other dimensions or have a demon claim ownership of her through a magical DNA contract. Now that her eyes are open, she is catapulted to Dimension Zeta. There, a powerful Fae named Mayir trains her to defend herself against the mysterious Orion.

Even more confusing, she finds herself falling for Terrian, a man from an entirely different dimension. Terrian promises to help defend her, but when Orion steals something of great importance to her, she must stand alone against him. Can a mere human fight off the magical control of an immortal being who wants her more than anything?

A sixty-eight #8sunday #ya #metaphysical #romance #humor #paranormal #wewriwa

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I keep forgetting to sign up. Whoops! Anyway, thought I would give you a snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance that came out the end of last year. Here, Kaylee is introduced to, well...Heath's pride and joy. If she can only figure out why.

~ ~ ~

"Shall we go?"
Nodding, I walked out, closing the door behind me and followed him down our drive to an old black car with a really loud muffler. "What is it?" I asked Vane.

"A sixty-eight. Heath built it from the ground up. It’s his baby." Vane opened up the passenger door and pulled the front seat forward for me, obviously assuming I would know what a sixty-eight was. I climbed into the back of the rumbling car, feeling a bit trapped, and yet not about to admit I had no idea.

Similar but not #8sunday #ya #metaphysics #romance #fantasy

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I have another snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance which will be out on December 30th. Kaylee's all ready for her afternoon with Heath. Or so she thinks.

~ ~ ~

Walking up to the door, I took a couple deep breaths before opening it, wanting to have a definite glare on my face. That faltered as I took in a face that looked similar to Heath's and yet wasn't. It had the same pale skin and soft pink lips, but instead of blonde hair, his was bright red and instead of dark gray eyes, his were blue. "I'm confused," I said, staring into the bright blue eyes in front of me.

Adding to my confusion the face smiled, a really nice non-smirky smile. "You must be Kaylee. I'm Vane. Heath's twin. Shall we go?"

Eureka! #8sunday #ya #metaphysics #romance #fantasy

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I have another snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance which will be out on December 30th. (Just 18 days!) This snippet is a few paragraphs after last week's post.

~ ~ ~

My closet was now a total mess, but after three hours, I finally settled on the perfect outfit to wear around the jerk known as Heath. Who names their child Heath anyway? Was his mother eating a candy bar when he was born and thought, I can't think of anything else, might as well name him the first word I see, and then she looked down and saw the wrapper. Eureka! Good thing she wasn’t eating a bag of Zours. Or Skittles. Or… a Big Hunk. Giggling at the possibilities, I blanked out for a little while as I imagined all of the candy derivatives he could have been called.

I forgot to sign up for last week, though I did do a post, when Kaylee met Heath for the first time.

Hollywood moment #8sunday #ya #metaphysics #romance #fantasy

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I have another snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance which will be out on December 30th. Yay! You've gotten to know Kaylee's sense of humor. How about a jump ahead to her first impression of Heath?

~ ~ ~

My eyes fastened on Heath and the world stopped for a moment. Have you ever had one of those times when you meet someone and it's like a Hollywood moment? This was one of those moments, only not in a good way. Heath scared the living daylights out of me. Tall with pasty white skin and blonde hair the color of his mother's, he had pale pink lips that were formed in a smirk. But it was his eyes that bothered me. Dark gray, they were so dark they were practically black. Obviously I’d read far too many vampire and werewolf books because I briefly considered the possibility I could transport me and mom somewhere safe before he decided to attack.

Not quite what I was going for #8sunday #ya #metaphysics #romance #fantasy

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I have another snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance which will be out on December 30th. This takes off directly from my last 8Sunday post.

~ ~ ~

Wait. Where was I?

Oh, right. Princess blanket. Ugh.

Bringing to mind a purple satin blanket with a golden dragon, I focused my mind – well, I tried – and five minutes later when I opened my eyes, I groaned as I spotted a pink and purple blanket with a princess being ripped apart by a dragon. Not quite what I was going for. But then, transporting myself here to there was much easier than actually doing something to an object.

Just ask my camp counselor #8sunday #YA #metaphysics #romance

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I have another snippet from Tryad, my Young adult metaphysical romance which will be out on December 30th. This takes off directly from last week's post.

~ ~ ~

Unfortunately, she must have decided while I was away at camp to turn my room into a princess paradise. Glaring at the offensive pink and white blanket, I took a moment to calm myself while closing my eyes. One thing I learned at camp was not to try and change things while angry. The consequences could be disastrous. Just ask my camp counselor. Err, never mind. Don't ask her. You wouldn't believe it anyway.

Another snippet from Tryad for #8sunday #YA #metaphysics #romance #fantasy

Hello, Weekend Writing Warriors! I'm excited to be back with you today with another snippet from Tryad. This picks up from where my previous 8 left off.

* * *

Amused, I barely kept the smirk off my face as I turned and walked back into the house. Once I was pretty sure I was out of sight, I imagined myself in my bedroom and was there. So much easier than walking up three flights of stairs. Mom seemed to think I could levitate, which was kind of funny, when in fact, I could actually transport myself from one place to another using nothing more than the energy that surrounded me. Humming to myself, I went to lay down when I saw what blanket was on my bed. The growl that ripped through my throat might not be scary, but it was real enough to me. Mom had been lamenting that her little girl was growing up. At the age of sixteen, I would certainly hope so.

A little snippet for #8sunday #metaphysics #romance @ya

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

This is from the very beginning of a young adult metaphysical romance titled Tryad

~~~~~
"Kaylee Marin Stephens! Get down from there!" my mother hissed, standing in that pose mothers the world over had perfected. Feet spread more than shoulder-width apart, partially bent forward, with her hands on her abundant hips, Mom looked more like a general berating her troops than a mother trying to get her daughter down from the roof.
With a loud sigh, I closed my eyes and imagined myself standing in front of her. The moment my toes sunk into the grass, she hissed again. "Go to your room. When your father comes home, I'm going to send him up to deal with you. Just because they taught you that you could do anything does not mean you should levitate anywhere you please."
