A sixty-eight #8sunday #ya #metaphysical #romance #humor #paranormal #wewriwa

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I keep forgetting to sign up. Whoops! Anyway, thought I would give you a snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance that came out the end of last year. Here, Kaylee is introduced to, well...Heath's pride and joy. If she can only figure out why.

~ ~ ~

"Shall we go?"
Nodding, I walked out, closing the door behind me and followed him down our drive to an old black car with a really loud muffler. "What is it?" I asked Vane.

"A sixty-eight. Heath built it from the ground up. It’s his baby." Vane opened up the passenger door and pulled the front seat forward for me, obviously assuming I would know what a sixty-eight was. I climbed into the back of the rumbling car, feeling a bit trapped, and yet not about to admit I had no idea.

Tryad
Book One, The Tryad Series
Available from:

Kaylee thought learning energy work was fun, especially as it got her from here to there with barely a thought.

Back from energy camp for her junior year in high school, her carefree use of energy is noted by two new teenagers in town: Heath and Vane

Annoyed at and attracted to them at the same time, she doesn't expect to find out the three of them are part of a Tryad. When all three energies combine, nothing can stop them from doing anything they want.

The more the three of them interact, the more intense their energy.

When a man intent on controlling them attacks, they flee to train together.

Until he kidnaps Kaylee’s parents…

With no time to prepare, Heath, Vane, and Kaylee must face this man and try to rescue her parents before it’s too late.

Now off you go to read some amazing snippets from even more amazing authors. :)

We'll take it from here #8sunday #wewriwa #dystopian #paranormal #ya

Hello, WeWriWa followers! How are you doing this week?

I'm giving another snippet from Camp One this week. In this scene, Dolce, Courtland, and Mieran are meeting the three most powerful prisoners in the camp they are now a part of.

~~~
“We’ll take it from here,” the redhead said to the guards behind them. The strength in his voice and his bearing were obvious but it was still surprising when the guards backed off and left them alone. Turning his deep blue eyes on them, he gave them a sad smile. “Welcome to hell. My name is Iain. To my left is Devon.” Devon was even larger than Iain was. While the same height, his shoulders were wide, his muscles numerous and when you added in his shoulder length shaggy black hair, deep gray eyes and constant hand twitching, Dolce was sure he was someone to keep an eye on.
~~~

The Changelings: Camp One

Picture the United States, circa 20-teens.
Only it's not the United States we know. Or is it?

Every year, teenagers from the ages of 14-16 get tested for a classified, illegal hormone nobody knows anything about, except for the military. Tested as positive for XJ-99Q, Dolce, Courtland, and their friend Mieran are removed from society and thrown into a camp in the middle of the desert. With electrified fencing and face-to-face duels to the death, they don't imagine it could be worse. Until they find out what the hormone actually does; turns them into something else entirely. Faced with annihilation, Dolce and Courtland join up with the three strongest males in camp. While Mieran joins with their enemy.

When the camp is destroyed, five of them escape, tasting freedom. But when they relax their guard, the military finds them. Captured, escaped, and captured again, no matter which way they move, the military is two steps ahead of them.

Against all odds, they find a family of humans they trust and wish to stay with. Only, this time, they may have not just doomed themselves, but every human in their vicinity to the fate of Camp One.

They were...different #WeWriWa #dystopian #paranormal #8sunday #YA

Hello, WeWriWa followers! How are you doing this week?

I'm giving another snippet from Camp One this week, since there seemed to be some interest. It's actually a completed 111k book. I wrote it as 3 separate novellas and after a huge amount of cutting and changing the ending, it still ended up over 100k. In this scene, Dolce, Courtland, and Mieran have just taken showers and put on the camp uniform of tan upon tan.

~~~
“I think we need to explain fashion to these people.”
They were happy to throw their clothes into the hamper that stood off to the side but Dolce did not want to toss her dress in there. “It’s the only color here,” she explained to the man who looked at her as though she was speaking a foreign language. “Look,” she went on in exasperation, “If I have to wear such boring clothing, I can at least accessorize by cutting this up.”
He seemed to disagree as he grabbed her dress and stuffed it in the hamper, pushing her out the door of the shower where the boys waited.
“Unbelievable,” she hissed, following her two friends along a long metal hallway. At the end stood three men. They were…different.
4 star review of L'Amore Perfetto
L'Amore Perfetto has been out for several years but I'm excited to say it just received a 4-star review from Angela from Crystal's Many Reviewers.
As an author, I focus so much on my works in progress and new books that at times, the oldest backlist gets forgotten. I'm pleased to say this one hasn't been. It was my first published romance and I do adore these characters.
Check out Angela's review.
Until the day you die #WeWriWa #dystopian #paranormal #8sunday #YA
Hello, WeWriWa followers! How are you doing this week?
I'm giving you a snippet from a book I haven't 'decided' on whether to self-publish or throw in the pile of 'nice ideas but public not ready for..."
~~~

“This is the oldest of the camps. We have existed this way for a long time. Follow the rules and your time here will be boring but without incident. Break the rules and you are playing with your life.” The sharp edge of his voice made them all pay attention.

“How long will we be here for?” Dolce asked when nobody spoke for a few minutes.

Both of Gregs' eyes settled on her and for a moment she found it difficult to breathe and that feeling in her stomach flared into life – the one that screamed for her to run – before she fought it back down.

“Until the day you die,” he said flatly before turning and walking to the door.

Just an update

Busy, busy, busy...that seems to be my chant lately. I'm working on Tryad #2, but I'm also thinking of self-pubbing the dystopian book I wrote 2 years ago. It isn't my usual style, I will admit. For one thing - it is multiple POV, to the point of head hopping which anyone who knows me knows I try and stay away from, and yet this story just lent itself to it.

I just haven't decided yet. So, anyone got a vote? Interested in reading a young adult, paranormal, dystopian story? It will either be published as 3 novellas or 1 supernovel. I'm leaning toward the novellas because that is how I originally wrote it.

If I don't publish it, I will put it in what I call my 'bottomless pit' folder - where stories go and never come back out. It would be a shame for this story never to see the light of day, but  after my umpteenth rejection on it, I'm beginning to think there isn't an audience for it.

So, what do you think? Is there interest? Or should I just toss it?

They're new... a little Tryad for #8Sunday #ya #metaphysics #romance #humor #fantasy

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

Tryad is now out! yay! This week's snippet takes off from where last week's left off.

~ ~ ~

"They're new," I explained, trying to forestall a fight while poking my head between their shoulders. "Heath and Vane…" I paused, not remembering if I had learned their last name.

"Rollins," Vane supplied in a crisp voice.

Looking at the two of them, Spence cast a glance over his shoulder and seeing his sports team watching, became even braver. "Well, since you're new, then I think we should give you the rules."

Oh, no. Male posturing at its worst.
