Eureka! #8sunday #ya #metaphysics #romance #fantasy

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors :)

I have another snippet from Tryad, my young adult metaphysical romance which will be out on December 30th. (Just 18 days!) This snippet is a few paragraphs after last week's post.

~ ~ ~

My closet was now a total mess, but after three hours, I finally settled on the perfect outfit to wear around the jerk known as Heath. Who names their child Heath anyway? Was his mother eating a candy bar when he was born and thought, I can't think of anything else, might as well name him the first word I see, and then she looked down and saw the wrapper. Eureka! Good thing she wasn’t eating a bag of Zours. Or Skittles. Or… a Big Hunk. Giggling at the possibilities, I blanked out for a little while as I imagined all of the candy derivatives he could have been called.

I forgot to sign up for last week, though I did do a post, when Kaylee met Heath for the first time.

Tryad
Book One, The Tryad Series

Kaylee thought learning energy work was fun, especially as it got her from here to there with barely a thought.

Back from energy camp for her junior year in high school, her carefree use of energy is noted by two new teenagers in town: Heath and Vane.

Annoyed at and attracted to them at the same time, she doesn't expect to find out the three of them are part of a Tryad. When all three energies combine, nothing can stop them from doing anything they want.

The more the three of them interact, the more intense their energy.

When a man intent on controlling them attacks, they flee to train together.

Until he kidnaps Kaylee’s parents…

With no time to prepare, Heath, Vane, and Kaylee must face this man and try to rescue her parents before it’s too late.

Now off you go to read some amazing snippets from even more amazing authors. :)

  1. Ha, the candy names. Made me laugh a little. I dated a Heath once...

  2. Cynthia, a WeWriWa moderator here. You don't need to re-post our linky list on your blog, a simple link to our homepage will be fine. Otherwise it starts to look confusing as to who is running the blog hop, and people may go to the wrong place if they have questions. Thanks!

You've got a cute excerpt here :-) Really gets into the head of a high schooler. Hope to see more from this!

  5. That was funny, and I see why she doesn't like the name Heath. It kind of irks me too. Great snippet.

  7. ROFL at the candy names comments. Sounds exactly like the way I've heard some younger girls think. Very very realistic. I suppose I'm strange, but when I think of "Heath" my mind immediately goes to "Heathcliff" from Wuthering Heights. Guess I'm a romantic like that. :-) Thanks so much for sharing!
