“I would,” Mayir responded, “but you are extremely refreshing, Arwen. I have never met anyone quite like you.”

Arwen has been taught the steps to making things happen and being pitted against one of Mayir's guards and tired of him winning, she focuses to make it work this time.

Imagine: She saw the goon as a fly and in her hand was a fly swatter.

Feel: She felt the joy as her hand swung the swatter and squished him against the wall.

Understand: She knew that the end result, squashed fly, was all that mattered, the rest was up to the universe.

Let it go: Mentally, she let control go and thanked the universe for making the end result happen.

And then she opened her eyes.

His brown eyes stared into hers with an amused expression. Looking at her hand, she was embarrassed to see it holding a fly swatter and it was resting against the back of his head.

“You thought you could hit me with that? What is it supposed to do?” he asked before bursting into laughter.

This is from the first chapter - Ari has really bad luck with dates, or to be exact, blind dates that her sister sets her up on. This one has been the worst of the worst. And how it ends? Definitely memorable.

She had just taken her seat and was drumming her fingers on the table when the waiter walked up. This time there was no doubt as to the pity on his face. “The guy you were with had to leave and asked that I give this to you.” He handed her a folded piece of paper.

Relieved she didn’t have to do the leaving, she nodded, and opened up the paper to see what kind of excuse he would have left for his departure. Instead of a note, she found herself staring at the bill for their dinner. “So, he decided we were going dutch,” she chuckled, grabbing her bag. Boy, her sister sure knew how to pick them.

“No, actually he said you would be paying for the whole bill.”

Excited? I am! I love this book. It is exactly the kind of book I enjoy reading. Strong, quirky heroine, alternate dimensions, a demon who has too high of an opinion of himself, and a drop-dead gorgeous love interest.
